A waist trainer is a modern-day equivalent of a corset that tightens around your midsection. The concept is to make your waist smaller by “training” it. While squeezing your lower ribs can help slim your waist, it has little effect on the amount of fat stored around your midsection. You won’t be negatively affected by using a waist trainer on a regular basis, but you should be cautious and avoid doing so.
Many rows of hooks and eyes are found on most waist trainers. Some trainers come with an additional zipper that you may use to make them even more snug. Waist trainers with top straps and built-in bras are also available.
Because most trainers have two or three rows of hooks, start with the looser setting. You must gradually increase the tightness of the setting, as doing so will be extremely uncomfortable.
If you’ve never done this before, this step may be challenging. It’s possible that you’ll have to hold your breath or perhaps lie down. Connect the trainer’s hooks together when you’re lying down or holding your breath to keep it in place.

It is not recommended to use a waist trainer at night or on weekends. For example, some people only use it at the office. Wearing it is optional, though, and depends on your personal style.  Some sources suggest wearing it for 8 to 10 hours a day, but if it’s making you uncomfortable, you can take it off. You’ll see benefits after a few weeks of wearing your waist trainer regularly. As soon as you start to see results, you can go down a size in your waist trainer.
When using a waist trainer, you should be prepared for some discomfort. If it’s causing you any discomfort, you should take it off until you feel better.
Wearing waist trainers to bed is a mistake. When you go home from work, it’s actually advisable to take it off completely. Your body needs time to rest and recuperate.

Using a vinyl or fabric tape measure, find the narrowest region of your waist, about two inches above your belly button. Don’t tighten the tape too much; it should be level with the ground and not pulled too tight. You should have no problem slipping a finger underneath it.
Are You Sure You Followed the Sizing Chart?
At first glance, it’s a little perplexing. Remember that your waist measurement isn’t always the same number as the size you order. The best-fitting waist trainers are those that can be adjusted to accommodate different body types.

Waist trainers can be a little tough to put on if you aren’t familiar with them. Begin by securing the garment’s bottom hook-and-eye fastening around the narrowest region of your waistline.
